Crafting the last word on a life for a loved one or yourself
Headline Catches My Eye
Can’t say that I was thinking about writing an obituary any time soon but ran across this article written by a professional obituary writer. I had to read further.
Beyond the facts of name, date and location of birth and death….the writer offers up tips on making this last statement of someone’s life to be special. People love stories and there are several ways to tell that story. You can place an official obit in the newspaper. I was surprised to find out that it costs more the longer the notice and if it includes a photo.
A second option that has gained traction is posting to a website with photos, videos with a guest book for family and friends to leave their thoughts and prayers.
Like insurance, it may give you peace of mind to spend some time when it is available instead of in the moment, in a crisis or under stress to think of how you want to handle this last tribute to a loved one.
Action Step: Take a moment to think about how you want to handle this situation and learn the options that are available to you now when you have the time to think and process it.
